NEW BLADE BREAK-IN PROCEDURE

A correct break-in process is essential to achieve maximum blade life and optimal cutting performance with every new ORIONCUT bandsaw blade.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE

●  Set the blade speed according to the material recommendations.

●  For the initial 300–500 cm² of cutting area:

Reduce feed rate by approximately 40–50% when cutting softer materials (carbon steel, aluminum).

Reduce feed rate by 25–30% when cutting harder or difficult materials (stainless steel, tool steel, high-alloy steels).

●  Gradually increase feed to the full recommended rate once the break-in period is completed.

●   Maintain proper blade tension and ensure sufficient coolant flow throughout the process.

Proper break-in significantly enhances tooth edge durability and extends overall service life.

BLADE TENSION GUIDELINES

Correct blade tension is vital for achieving straight, accurate cuts and minimizing vibration.

RECOMMENDED TENSION LEVELS

●  Blades up to 27 mm width:

    200–250 N/mm² (29,000–36,000 PSI)

●  Blades 34–80 mm width:

    250–300 N/mm² (36,000–43,500 PSI)

Use a calibrated tension meter whenever possible. Incorrect tension can result in blade wandering or premature blade fatigue.

CUTTING FLUID RECOMMENDATIONS

Selecting the appropriate cutting fluid plays a key role in improving blade performance, surface finish, and tool life.

RECOMMENDED COOLANTS BY MATERIAL

●  Carbon Steel & Alloy Steel:

    Water-soluble coolant at 5–8% concentration

●   Stainless Steel & High-Alloy Steels:

     High-performance semi-synthetic coolant at 8–10%

●   Titanium & Nickel Alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy):

Heavy-duty coolant with extreme pressure additives; apply in high volume

●   Aluminum & Non-ferrous Metals:

Specialized aluminum coolant or minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) to prevent material adhesion

Regularly check coolant concentration and ensure it is delivered effectively to the cutting zone.
